YUVA lobbies to change appellation of ‘NGO’ to ‘CSO’

YUVA believes that the appellation of NGOs should change from “Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO)” to “Civil Society Organisation (CSO)”.

In the past decade, there has been a radical, worldwide change in the way Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) present themselves in the civil society, before the funding agencies and in various nationals and international fora. One significant change is that NGOs now call themselves CSOs, that is Civil Society Organisations. This change is replete with meaning, connotations and implications. And all these meanings and implications have proved crucial for the way CSOs have evolved over the past decade or so. Official Launching of Edycs ARADI Advocacy Group

In the context of the World Mental Health Day Celebration and the Promotion of the African Charter to the Human Rights of Persons with Disabilities, held on the 10th of October, the Edycs Epilepsy Group organised the official launching of the Edycs ARADI Advocacy Group. YUVA, along with many other member organisations, were presented with membership awards, in the presence Mr Daniel Eric Clive Laurent, Lord Mayor of Port Louis; Mr Paramasiva Chengan, president of MACOSS; Mr Youssouf Noormamode, president of Edycs Epilepsy Group; and other NGOs at the Municipality of Port Louis. YUVA at ‘CLEn & NGO Fair 2018’ of University of Technology, Mauritius

Today YUVA participated in the Community Learning and Engagement (CLEn) and NGO Fair 2018 at the University of Technology, Mauritius to recruit students as Interns.

The Community Learning and Engagement (CLEn 1000) is a new and innovative credit-based mandatory component which has been introduced in The School of Business Management and Finance (SBMF) undergraduate programmes following the 2015 major review process. YUVA and AIESEC Partner on Mental Health Project

YUVA and AIESEC Reduit (Mauritius) have signed a partnership agreement to outline the cooperation between the two organisations in regard to the social project Extricate Minds, which is aligned to the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 3.
