[Video] What Caellum Buys-Maurel Says About Robotics Team Mauritius

“My name is Caellum Buys-Maurel. I am 15 years old, and I am currently attending Northfields International High School.

Since a young age, I have been fascinated by how machines and gadgets work. For as long as I can remember, I have always been playing with Meccano and Lego. I have loved taking apart gadgets throughout my childhood to see how they are put together and then try to make something new out of the components. I have done a course on building and coding robotics.

This course picked my interest in robotics, and I am interested in learning more. Currently, for my IGCSE at school, I am doing design technology, computer science and environmental management. I enjoy these, especially design technology, as I work with my hands and create innovative new solutions. I am interested in how these subjects can be integrated to combat the problems we are facing in the world today.

I am incredibly grateful and eager to be one of the students chosen to represent Mauritius for the FIRST Global Challenge 2021. As an assembler in the team, I will be contributing to the researching and building of our robot. I look forward to what I can learn from everybody else on the team, both about robotics and working as a team.”
