YUVA Academy admitted to Civic Education Network for Eastern and Southern Africa (CENESA) by Interim Steering Committee in Kenya

YUVA is thrilled to announce that YUVA Academy has been admitted to the Civic Education Network for Eastern and Southern Africa (CENESA) by the Interim Steering Committee seating on the 31st of July 2019 in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Resolution to set up CENESA was adopted at the Eastern African Civic Education Forum in Entebbe, Uganda. In the course of the Forum, it became evident that consistent connectivity between Eastern and Southern Africa was lacking. There was thus a need for a platform that enables civic education and youth empowerment organisations across the sub-continent connect, collaborate and cooperate with each other.

YUVA lobbies to change appellation of ‘NGO’ to ‘CSO’

YUVA believes that the appellation of NGOs should change from “Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO)” to “Civil Society Organisation (CSO)”.

In the past decade, there has been a radical, worldwide change in the way Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) present themselves in the civil society, before the funding agencies and in various nationals and international fora. One significant change is that NGOs now call themselves CSOs, that is Civil Society Organisations. This change is replete with meaning, connotations and implications. And all these meanings and implications have proved crucial for the way CSOs have evolved over the past decade or so. YUVA makes Social Work more Conversational with Launch of ChatBots

Today YUVA announced the launch of its artificial intelligence powered chatbot YUVAMauritius for its volunteers, members and various stakeholders across Mauritius and worldwide, on the chatbot platform Qarma.
