Projects Update · 2023

A year of programmes, learning and accountability.

YUVA’s 2023 Projects Update documents programme activity, organisational milestones and lessons from the year, providing stakeholders with a consolidated record of YUVA’s work.

Why publish a Projects Update?

Accountability means showing the work, not merely describing the mission.

YUVA prepared the 2023 Projects Update so that people connected with the organisation could understand the status of its projects, challenges encountered and milestones achieved during the reporting year.

Regular reporting helps donors, programme participants, organisational leadership, governmental stakeholders and teams understand what has been undertaken and where further support or resources may be required.

This webpage provides an introduction to the publication. The complete 2023 Projects Update remains the primary source for the detailed programme record.

The purpose of reporting
Impact deserves more than a headline. It deserves a record of what was attempted, what was achieved and what the organisation learned along the way.

YUVA uses project updates as a way of keeping stakeholders informed and strengthening accountability around its work.

Cover story

Behind every programme number is a person.

The 2023 Projects Update opens with the story of Brendon, a 13-year-old learner from Goodlands who described experiencing difficulties with reading, spelling and writing.

The report explains that YUVA’s remedial classes used different learning approaches, including visual, auditory, tactile and kinaesthetic methods, to support his progress.

It also records his participation in YUVA’s Moral, Civic and Sex Education Programme and his reflection that the programme helped him feel more empowered and informed.

Why the story matters Programmes become meaningful when they change a learner’s experience. Brendon’s story connects YUVA’s education and empowerment work by showing how academic support and wider personal development can reinforce one another.
