Why we ask for ideas

Innovation rarely belongs to one job title.

A useful idea can come from a student, parent, volunteer, teacher, professional, entrepreneur, community member or someone who has simply noticed a problem that deserves a better response.

YUVA welcomes ideas that can strengthen the lives and opportunities of children and young people, improve communities or contribute to practical social innovation.

An idea does not need to arrive as a complete project proposal. What matters is that the problem is clear, the thinking is thoughtful and the potential value is worth exploring.

Ideas become useful through action
Creativity asks, “What if?” Social innovation asks the harder question: “Would this actually improve someone’s life?”

We are interested in ideas that connect imagination with a real problem, a real community and a meaningful outcome.

What makes an idea useful?

Start with the problem, not the presentation.

You do not need a polished pitch deck. A strong submission should help us understand four basic things.

A real problem Explain what is happening, who is affected and why the issue deserves attention.

A practical idea Tell us what you think could be done differently and how your idea would work.

A clear beneficiary Identify the children, young people, families or communities who could benefit.

A meaningful outcome Explain what could become better if the idea succeeds and how that change might be observed.

What to send us

A simple email is enough to begin.

Write to YUVA with a concise explanation of your idea. You can include documents or supporting material if they help us understand the concept.

Clear thinking is more useful than a long proposal. Give us enough context to understand the problem, the idea and the potential impact.

Give your idea a simple title. A few words that make the concept easy to identify.

Describe the problem. Explain what you have observed and who is affected.

Explain your proposed solution. Tell us what you think YUVA, partners or communities could do.

Identify the people it could help. Be as specific as you reasonably can.

Tell us how you would like to be involved. Let us know whether you want to help develop the idea or are simply sharing it with YUVA.
What happens after submission?

From idea to possible collaboration.

Step 01 Submit Email your idea to the YUVA Secretariat with enough information for us to understand what you are proposing.
Step 02 Review YUVA considers the idea and whether it aligns with the organisation’s work, priorities and capacity.
Step 03 Response YUVA’s current submission process states that you will receive a reply no later than one month after the idea is received.
Step 04 Discuss If the idea is of interest, YUVA may invite you to a meeting to explore how the concept could move forward.
Before you submit

Understand how submitted ideas may be used.

YUVA’s existing idea-submission process gives the organisation the right to use and develop ideas that are submitted to it.

If YUVA is interested in developing your concept, it may invite you to discuss how the idea could proceed and the role, if any, you might have in its development.

Submission terms Please read before emailing your idea.
YUVA may use and develop submitted ideas. By submitting an idea, you give YUVA the right to use and develop that idea as it sees fit.
Submission does not guarantee development. Every idea is considered, but YUVA is not obliged to adopt, fund or implement a submitted concept.
Further discussion may follow. If YUVA finds the idea interesting, you may be invited to a meeting to discuss how the concept could proceed.
Compensation may be discussed where relevant. YUVA’s existing submission process states that if it develops an idea without your involvement, a discussion may take place about how you should be compensated.
