Volunteer with YUVA.
Give your time, skills and energy to work that supports children, young people and communities. Volunteer opportunities connect with YUVA’s work in education, health, empowerment and employment in Mauritius and India.
Community change needs people willing to participate.
Volunteers are an important part of YUVA’s work. They contribute knowledge, time, creativity, professional skills and practical support to activities serving children and young people.
Volunteering is not only about helping at an event. Depending on YUVA’s needs and your capabilities, your contribution may involve programmes, research, communication, organisation, community engagement, education or other forms of support.
YUVA’s volunteer philosophy is based on matching organisational needs with the skills and availability of volunteers.
YUVA creates opportunities for people to contribute responsibly while learning, developing skills and participating in community life.
Four programme areas. Many ways to help.
Volunteer opportunities can connect with any of YUVA’s four areas of work affecting children and young people.
Volunteering begins with preparation.
YUVA’s current volunteer process requires a prospective YUVAN to have completed at least one certificate programme offered through the YUVA Academy.
The purpose is to ensure that volunteers enter the organisation with a foundation in leadership, learning and responsible participation rather than simply arriving for isolated activities.
What you can expect from YUVA, and what YUVA expects from you.
You should be supported in your role.
Volunteering comes with responsibility.
Your path to becoming a YUVAN.
Volunteering is service, not employment.
A YUVAN volunteer performs duties on a voluntary basis and does not receive salary or remuneration for the volunteer role.
YUVA’s Volunteer Agreement states that the arrangement is not intended to create an employment, independent contractor or consultancy relationship.
Volunteer within a wider movement.
