Mental health conditions are on the rise globally and have been exacerbated due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tackling mental health issues does not only help to improve the mental well-being of people but, it can also improve their physical health. Research has found that poor mental health limits a person’s ability to work successfully, reach their full potential, and contribute to their community. Therefore, tackling mental health issues can help Mauritius increase the overall health of its population and the quality of life of its people. But is Mauritius doing enough to tackle this issue? And if not, what can be done to tackle this issue?

YUVA and National Empowerment Foundation organise Medical Camp at Grand Bay Super U

YUVA, in close collaboration with the National Empowerment Foundation (NEF), organised a medical camp on Saturday 24 August 2019 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Super U, Grand Bay Coeur de Ville.

Through this initiative, YUVA brought awareness amongst the population on the importance of good health. Free medical advice was provided to the people and they were referred for specialised treatment. Amongst the different services offered were blood donation, general check-up, eye check-up, diabetes check-up, hypertension check-up and biofeedback stress test, conducted by professionals from different organisations.
