YUVA began first Remedial Class at Goodlands with 62 Secondary School Students

Throughout the formal education system in Mauritius, students are expected to conform to a standardised academic curriculum regardless of their ability. Besides, some may experience a disrupted education on account of economic and structural barriers.

As such, these students are often referred to as slow learners because they encounter difficulties in grasping the rudimentary and therefore, should be allowed to learn at their own pace. This situation cries out for remedial education. Remedial classes are synonymous to a medicine necessary to cure the slow learners of their learning difficulties and hence, improve their educational performance.

YUVA to launch Remedial Classes of English and French Languages in the North for Secondary Students

As from next month, YUVA is starting free remedial classes for needy secondary school students living in the north. If you know any such eligible student, feel free to recommend him/her to us at 2181732.

We believe that every child possesses a unique capability. But in a formal classroom, a student doesn’t get the scope to learn as per his/her choice and needs. Students are bound to follow an organised curriculum despite having disinterest for many subjects. So they fail to understand the subjects which do not interest them. Often they don’t take part in the interactive session. Sometimes they are humiliated in the formal classroom for their disinterest.

YUVA launches Leadership Programme in Secondary Schools of Zone 2

YUVA, one of the largest and most active youth-led NGOs of Mauritius, joins YUVA Academy, its subsidiary for launching an intensive free leadership programme for secondary school students of Zone 2.

Designed for a 12-hour duration, this leadership programme challenges secondary school students to apply learning using a realistic simulation, based on real-world leadership experiences.
