Singapore to Host ‘Olympic-Style’ International Robotics Competition in October

Singapore will host the seventh edition of an international robotics challenge for youth in October, the first time the annual competition will be held in Asia. And YUVA Mauritius is the official partner of the event.

Around 190 countries will send a team each to Singapore to compete in the “Olympic-style” contest organised by the United States-based non-profit group First Global, which promotes science, technology, engineering and mathematics – or STEM – education.

YUVA to Represent Mauritius in 2023 FIRST Global Challenge in Singapore

YUVA’s kids will represent Mauritius in Singapore’s 2023 FIRST Global Challenge. The “Olympics-style” robotics event concentrates on revolutionizing renewable energy with a focus on hydrogen.

FIRST Global, the STEM education nonprofit founded by inventor Dean Kamen, has announced the 2023 FIRST Global Challenge will be held in Singapore from 7-10 October.

A Team of Young People from Mauritius at the World Robotics Competition

Seven young people will represent Mauritius at the FIRST Global Challenge, the world robotics competition to be held in Geneva from 13 to 16 October 2022.

The FIRST Global Mauritius team, composed of five secondary school students and two young mentors (below 22 years old), has been selected to participate in the international Olympic-style robotics competition that takes place every year in a different country and to which one team from each country in the world is invited.

FIRST Global Mauritius Addressing Climate Change

FIRST Global Mauritius is proud to continue expanding our educational opportunities to youth worldwide. The New Technology Experience is a means for the student community to stay current with cutting-edge technology.

In 2021, we introduced the concept with the CubeSat Prototype Challenge. This year, the initiative is tied to the Carbon Capture theme. Carbon Countermeasures takes FIRST Global teams beyond the robotics game as they research and develop their own solutions to combat climate change.

FIRST Global is Uniting Mauritian High Schoolers to Solve Global Challenges from the Pandemic

From 27 June to 18 September, Mauritian youth have worked together in the FIRST Global Challenge, innovating solutions to strengthen their communities through STEM.

From social projects to miniature satellites to robot design, the non-profit FIRST Global is launching its latest season for teenagers from around the world, this year to develop solutions to problems the COVID-19 pandemic presented. FIRST Global, which ignites a passion for STEM in youth worldwide to inspire the next generation of problem solvers and innovators, announced the start of the 2021 FIRST Global Challenge — the fifth iteration of its global Olympics-style robotics event.

“Since the age of 7, I have always been fascinated by the world of technology and science. I enjoy learning about machines, computers, their components and software programming. So far, I have accumulated a comprehensive knowledge of AI, several programming languages such as JavaScript, Python and designing HTML-structured web pages with CSS. Team Mauritius bags Robotics Safety Award at FGC 2019, Dubai

Team Mauritius participated at the FIRST Global Challenge (Robotics) 2019 in Dubai between 24 to 27 October. Mauritius was represented by 5 young people – Anushree Luchooa from the Droopnath Ramphul State College, Tanversingh Juwheer from the Goodlands State Secondary School (Boys), Taran Dhani Varun from the Mauritius Institute of Training and Development (MITD), Devesh Takoor from the Sir Leckraz Teelock State Secondary School and Lurvish Polodoo from the Royal College Port Louis.

An initiative of YUVA, FIRST Global Mauritius aims at promoting STEM education in Mauritius by selecting and mentoring kids to form a solid Team Mauritius for the yearly international FIRST Global Challenge – “The Olympics of Robotics”.
