Visit of CFLI’s Daniel Haboucha at YUVA Mauritius for STEM Education Project

On Tuesday, 21 November 2023, YUVA Mauritius was honoured to host Mr Daniel Haboucha, Second Secretary of Political and Economic Affairs at the High Commission of Canada in South Africa, at the YUVA Training Room in Port Louis.

The event marked another significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between YUVA and Canada under the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) programme. The partnership focuses on implementing a 7-month STEM education project in Mauritius to empower young girls from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.

Singapore to Host ‘Olympic-Style’ International Robotics Competition in October

Singapore will host the seventh edition of an international robotics challenge for youth in October, the first time the annual competition will be held in Asia. And YUVA Mauritius is the official partner of the event.

Around 190 countries will send a team each to Singapore to compete in the “Olympic-style” contest organised by the United States-based non-profit group First Global, which promotes science, technology, engineering and mathematics – or STEM – education.

Hello, my name is Chelsy Madison Tow nam. I’m 15 years old. I study at Loreto College of Port Louis and am in grade 9. I’m part of the YUVA’s Robotics Team Mauritius, participating in the FIRST Global Challenge 2022.

I’m very introverted and have a lot of difficulties communicating with others, making it hard for me to make new friends. Fortunately, when I joined YUVA Mauritius, my teammates were friendly to me, making it easy for me to get to know each of them. Also, getting used to a new environment takes me a lot of time.
