Discussions were brought forward to examine and evaluate the contribution of youth to the various sectors of development in the light of national needs and priorities and also pointing specific areas where the participation of youth should be invited or strengthened. Talking to the Press in Rodrigues, The Chairman of NYC said:
“It is an undeniable fact that the bond between the youngsters of both islands needs to be strengthened. The National Youth Council is coming up with a series of joint activities. But the next venture being offered to all the elected members of the Regional Youth Councils is a free professional workshop called “Leadership Development Programme for Social Change”, which will be run in close collaboration with The Leadership Network (TLN).
The youth should be empowered. We believe that social transformation can only be achieved through value-based leadership and when youngsters undergo a process of inner change and then collectively begin to chart their destiny as a people.”
Mr Krishna Athal, Chairman of the National Youth Council of Mauritius
