I’m Merile Baboojeelall and I’m a student. Actually, I’m doing my diploma in Events Management at Rushmore Business School. It was a new experience to see the condition of living of these people in Mauritius itself. In fact, I’m a Mauritian and can see how nowadays Government can hide those part of Mauritius to people. As the brand name of Mauritius is Mauritius is a pleasure but unfortunately, not everyone knows that this country has two aspects: the positive and the negative. The positive aspect is that there are many facilities in Mauritius like free education to children as in many countries there are children that are not educated and need to do work despite their age. On the contrary, the negative aspect is that many people are poor and don’t have a job. Certain people need to make many sacrifices as seen today at the houses of those people but the main question in my head was “how can the politicians play with their lifestyle?” Thus, politicians make a lot of promises before the elections that they will do plenty of things to improve their condition. In the end after the election, the power and money were their own objective, therefore, they forget their promises. Today, seeing them smiling when receiving the clothes was an accomplishment of life as we have been able to help them though we are not rich people. It is a satisfaction to make a small thing for them, then receiving their thank you and their blessing. However, if the Government could just allow them to have a suitable house and allow them to have an employment, the rate of poverty in Mauritius will decrease. The negative impacts of this life on children are that they will easily become a dealer or can take a drug if not helped on time. This is a major disaster for youngsters. Nevertheless, the bad lifestyle of these people, I’m sure that they have big dreams but can’t afford to make them. Therefore, they are forced to gain money by doing illegal things like selling drugs and also through prostitution. It is the way that they are educated that is bad, how poor people educate their children and how they can easily give up to the important thing, for example, going to college. Seeing these children today and imagine a future for them that is an important point that Government should take into consideration. I’m sure it is also a dream for these parents, to be able to have a stable lifestyle but they have to sacrifice for their children. To conclude, it was a great experience to realise the chance, that we people have to be able to have a comfortable house and life and should stop complaining about not having the latest iPhone etc. I would like to say thank you to YUVA from the bottom of my heart for helping those people in need. They made me see that people with good hearts still exists. Thank you YUVA!
