YUVA’s kids will represent Mauritius in Singapore’s 2023 FIRST Global Challenge. The “Olympics-style” robotics event concentrates on revolutionizing renewable energy with a focus on hydrogen.

FIRST Global, the STEM education nonprofit founded by inventor Dean Kamen, has announced the 2023 FIRST Global Challenge will be held in Singapore from 7-10 October.

The annual robotics event will bring together thousands of students from more than 190 countries to collaboratively compete in a thrilling game highlighting the importance of renewable energy and its potential to create a better future for all.

We are excited to bring the 2023 FIRST Global Challenge to Singapore, a country at the forefront of innovation and sustainability. They exemplify the importance of increased investments in renewable energy technologies to improve the health of our planet and ensure a cleaner and more equitable energy future.

The Hydrogen Horizons game challenges participants to use their creativity and problem-solving skills to design and build a skilled robot from a standard kit of parts. Teams must then navigate their robot in the simulated world to produce hydrogen and use it to store, transport, and convert energy.

The 2023 FIRST Global Challenge is supported by title sponsor Lam Research, the nation of Singapore, the U.S. Department of Energy, and several other partners. The season’s activities provide a platform for participants to develop their skills and learn from experts in the field while promoting cultural exchange and understanding.

We are proud to support the 2023 FIRST Global Challenge on renewable energy as the title sponsor. At Lam, we believe that innovation and collaboration are key to addressing the challenges facing our planet, and we are excited to help inspire the next generation of problem solvers through this event.

Stacey MacNeil, chief communications officer at Lam Research

FIRST Global believes that by making science and technology as exciting as any other sport, we can inspire the world’s two billion youth to pursue STEM fields and be the leaders who work together to solve our planet’s most pressing problems.
