Hello! I’m Sajida, 18 years old, currently a student at Loreto College Port Louis, and I live in Plaine Verte. I had the incredible honour of representing Mauritius at the FIRST Global Challenge 2023 in Singapore, an experience that changed my life. Now, as an alumni member of the Mauritius Robotics Team, I am proudly supporting the 2025 team with bold ideas and “crazy innovations” to push our country even further on the global stage.

My journey with robotics began at a very young age. As a child, I was mesmerised by robots and remote-controlled cars. What seemed like just playtime quickly turned into passion. I was always dismantling things, questioning everything, and wondering: Where do people get the ideas to create such intelligent machines? Do I need to be a genius to build something like this? That intense curiosity led me to dive deeper into the world of robotics—and I haven’t stopped learning since.

The FIRST Global Challenge was a dream come true for me. Competing in 2023 gave me more than just technical skills—it taught me about perseverance, teamwork, and the power of innovation. What makes FGC so exciting is its constantly evolving themes. This year’s theme, Eco-Equilibrium, feels especially meaningful because it addresses global sustainability—something we all have a responsibility to care about. The tasks are fresh, and they challenge us to adapt, think smarter, and build better robots.

Although I won’t be travelling to Panama with the 2025 team, my commitment remains strong. I’m doing everything I can behind the scenes to guide, support, and uplift the new team members. I want them to believe in themselves, think boldly, and aim high—because I’ve been in their shoes, and I know what they are capable of.

My goal is to ensure Team Mauritius makes it to the finals—not just through technical skill, but with strong team spirit, strategic thinking, and creativity. For me, victory isn’t about standing on the podium alone. It’s about lifting others up, celebrating as a team, and proudly waving the Mauritian flag together.

Robotics has always been more than a subject to me—it’s a passion, a community, and a way to shape a better future. I’m incredibly proud to be part of this journey once again, this time as a mentor and motivator. The adventure continues!
