Despite progress in recent years, gender inequality in the workplace and society remains a challenge. YUVA Mauritius has launched initiatives to invest in the service ethic of youth and promote empowerment through various programs. The organisation also focuses on ensuring quality education, good health, empowerment, and employment for young people in Mauritius.

Discrimination, stigma, and lack of understanding contribute to a hostile environment that impedes the well-being of LGBTQ+ individuals.

The Challenges of LGBTQIA+ Communities in Africa

The LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual) communities have made profound workplace rights progress. This is very visible in Western countries.

Huge corporations pledged support for LGBTQIA+ communities against the anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation proposed in the United States. In Africa, the challenges are the same but in an entirely different context. This article looks at the specific difficulties queer communities face daily.
