The excitement is building up as the Mauritius Robotics Team, proudly powered by YUVA, is deep into Week 3 of preparation for the prestigious FIRST Global Challenge 2025, which will take place in Panama later this year. This international robotics competition brings together young innovators from over 190 countries to tackle global challenges using STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) solutions.

As the team diligently works on designing and assembling their robot, the much-anticipated official game theme for this year’s challenge was recently announced. The unveiling of the 2025 game—watch it here—has injected a fresh wave of energy and excitement into Team Mauritius.

In response, the team has ramped up their efforts, holding frequent online meetings to brainstorm, collaborate, and fine-tune their approach. The game’s theme has inspired a variety of ideas and innovations, and the team is carefully studying the rules, objectives, and scoring system to ensure a competitive performance on the global stage.

Meet the Team: A Blend of Passion and Skill

The official lineup of Team Mauritius is now finalized, featuring a dynamic group of five talented students, each bringing unique strengths to the table:

  • Navish Redini, Hashmi Mullloo, and Anne Maelys Keila Coiffic are spearheading the assembly and mechanical design of the robot. Their hands-on expertise is vital in transforming theoretical designs into a fully functional machine.
  • Shreya Ramlowat takes on the critical role of strategist, analyzing the game mechanics and planning the optimal approach to earn points, execute missions, and respond to in-game challenges effectively.
  • Sohail Jugbandhan, the team’s lead programmer, is responsible for the robot’s software and control systems. Beyond coding, Sohail is also serving as the team leader, guiding the group through every phase of the journey, from planning and prototyping to testing and competition.

Looking Ahead

With three weeks of preparation already under their belt, Team Mauritius is making solid progress. The collaborative spirit among the team members, combined with their drive and enthusiasm, promises a strong representation of the country at the FIRST Global Challenge.

As they continue to refine their robot and strategies, the team remains committed to excellence, innovation, and representing the values of cooperation, sustainability, and STEM empowerment on the international stage.

Mauritius is cheering you on—best of luck, Team Mauritius!
